Feature request: notes or comments

Would be nice if we could insert some notes or comments on emails.

Agreed. This is one of the features I would appreciate myself. If implemented, I would make sure these notes are synchronized via IMAP (but not by changing the original message).
I'll track any progress on this feature in this ticket. Don't expect it soon though.

Eudora had a nice feature where you could change the subject of a message as displayed in the mailbox window, but the Subject: header in the message would remain unchanged. This meant that you could make the mailbox display show something more meaningful than the original subject.
For example, say someone replies to some previous message from you about something completely different - happens to me all the time from mostly inexperienced mail users. Usually they forget to change the Subject, so it might refer to a golf game we had last week while the message tells me something important about a new project.
By changing the Subject display in the mailbox window, I could immediately tell that the message is about the new project.
