Closing search moves what mailbox you're looking at

MailMate has a behavior that I find annoying (I am not sure if it's intentional).
To reproduce:
1. Select a mailbox
2. Search (that mailbox or all Messages -- it doesn't matter)
3. Select a different mailbox
4. Close the search box (using the minus button in the top
right)
5. See the mailbox change from the one selected in #3
I want MailMate to not change my selected mailbox when I close the search window.
Is this intentional behavior? If so, is there a preference to change it to behave how I'd like? If not, is it a bug?

- State changed from “new” to “accepted”
It's intentional, but I'm aware it does not work well for many users. I'm still considering alternative/optional behavior.

(Cleaning up old tickets.) There is a “Default Mailbox” menu item in the popup menu in the toolbar search field which can be used.
