MailMate handing empty messages to SpamSieve

Reported by Lars | March 21st, 2021 @ 04:41 PM

Hi Benny

There have been instances of MailMate 1.14 (5757) running on macOS 11.2.3 (20D91) with Rosetta handing over empty messages to SpamSieve 2.9.43. I have reported it to Michael and he confirmed he has seen it happen before.

Even with DebugSpamDetection enabled, the logging is fairly basic:

1 new messages detected (SpamSieve detection is enabled)
Part of query: $'B484BD0B-0941-4DED-9A39-C8C59B91272C'.filter(#flags.flag !=[x] '$NotJunk').filter(#import-date !exists) (8366 messages)
SpamSieve -> MailMate: Message 704311 is good (0) – From: “C-Command Software Forum <forums@c-command.com>”, Subject: “[C-Command] Confirm your new account”, Message-ID: 2895a2e1-0e2d-4019-a197-ba7e09e71daa@forum.c-command.com

Is more verbose debugging output available?

Cheers!

    The latest test release should include the message size in the output you provided. Also, the latest test release is a universal build which means we can also test if Rosetta might somehow be the problem. Note that you cannot update within MailMate at the moment. Here's a direct link: r5782.

    Running the test release (natively) does hand over the message correctly. Have you made any changes that would explain this or would you like me to debug something?

    I don't believe I've made any changes related to SpamSieve/AppleScript in a very long time. The developer of SpamSieve has indicated that it might be related to the combination of Rosetta/Big Sur/M1, but it might also be related to how r5757 was built (for example, the Xcode version used). I'm fine with any theory as long as it works in the latest (test) release.

    I'll let you know if I have any additional questions.
