Some interface issues on Big Sur

#2684

There are at least two small visual interface issues on Big Sur (released yesterday):

  • the font in the menu bar is strangely narrow
  • pop-up menus are always opened in the left top corner of the screen

Thanks for caring!

It took a few restarts until Big Sur finally works smoothly. The issues are gone, sorry for the noise.

If you are on Big Sur then I recommend using the latest upload of MailMate found here (https://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/MailMate_r5737.tbz): https://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/

Cutting edge releases are, of course, always risky to use since there could be new bugs. There are known non-serious bugs in r5737, but at least on Big Sur it's likely better to use than the public release.

If you use the update above then you are welcome to list the remaining visual Big Sur issues in this ticket.

I had some Big Sur issues including crashing on printing as described in #2650 and installed the above release which fixed issues, thank you. In the r5737 version, the experimental features option seems to be gone and no bundles are available other than the premailer. Can bundles be manually added from the Git Hub repository and/or can the feature be toggled via command line? Cheers.

The move to mailbox window, search boxes at the top of the form are no longer higher enough to fit the search text in. All still working, just slightly off visually.

@Andrew: There should be no need to do it manually. Do you still have this issue on r5744?

@Chris: Yeah, that still looks pretty bad. I'll look into it soon.

@Chris: Fixed in r5745. It was triggered by Apple changing default layout behavior when compiling with the latest development tools...
