Mailmate crashing due to broken encoding

#955

I received an E-Mail which looked like it had a broken € sign (wrong encoding) in the Subject. When I clicked the E-Mail, Mailmate's Main Window closed and it showed me a warning that it is in an inconsistent state.
Detailed message:

Missing strings file for '/Users/MyUsername/Library/Application Support/MailMate/FilesForRebuilding/Database.noindex/Headers/#source.cache'

The only way to get it back to work was rebuilding the Database based on re-downloading (and I lost all my configuration). I've attached a screenshot of the Mail in question.

After the re-building the DB by redownloading I was able to open the Message, so the Problem might not be only related to the specific message, but a combination of different things.

I'm using MailMate Version 1.8 (4576)

    Sorry about your trouble.

Rebuilding should not have meant losing your configuration. Rebuilding does not involve the configuration files. What did you loose? Accounts, signatures, tags, ...?

Given that the message is not a problem after rebuilding then I think it was a coincidence that the problem started with this message. It sounds more like something happened on disk. Have you had any other disk-related problems?

No, I didn't had any other issues disk-related. All my accounts were lost.

Thanks, that might be an important piece in the puzzle. It's not obvious to me how that could happen, but I'll give it some thought. Let me know if this happens again.

Also make sure you have enabled sending crash reports in the General preferences pane.
