Reduce size of all emails

Hello,
I have multiple email account with a lot of message in all
In order to reduce disk space use on my mac i would like to have some advice on what are the best practice ?
What i am looking for is how can i have only 3months old email max, otherwise they stay on server only for search
Is it something possible ?
