Gmail All Mail sync issues

I think this is setup properly, but I'm not seeing messages in MailMate's [Gmail]/All Mail folder that are also in unsubscribed imap 'subfolders'. In other words, if a Gmail tag/folder is published on Gmail, but I don't subscribe to that tag/folder, that folder and its messages doesn't appear in MailMate (good) but messages in that folder also don't appear in [Gmail]/All Mail (bad).
Now, I recently stopped subscribing to a large number of folders in MailMate, so I'm thinking that this may be an issue where these messages were filtered out of [Gmail]/All Mail? Also, a lot of my unread message counts are off:
