trouble with imap for mobileme/icloud acct

i am using OX X 10.7.5 with the most recent version of mail mate
--
1) cannot do an import of mobile me/mail account (the box is there,
but faded and I cannot check the box); so when I tried to manually
create the account -- using the mail.me.com extension for both
incoming and outgoing… it repeatedly requests my password and
then gives me an error message.
i've tried reading the other tickets and doing as suggested. nothing seems to work. help?

Did you also try this “trick” regarding the username of the account?
The import doesn't work because Apple changed how they store iCloud accounts internally. There is no standard interface for obtaining the account settings (as far as I know) and I haven't yet looked into a workaround.
