Changing shortcut doesn't work correctly

I'd like to change the Shortcut of Show/Hide Mailboxes to F4. I've done the same in other Apps with a sidebar. When I change the Shortcut in Keyboards Preferences, the Shortcut shows up in MailMate as: Ctrl-Opt-Cmd-F4 instead of just F4. Furthermore, nothing happens when I use the Shortcut Ctrl-Opt-Cmd-F4 (also tried with Fn).
