mailto: URLs do not always auto-link correctly
Reported by Eric A. Meyer | March 12th, 2014 @ 07:58 PM
I observed that both spaces and colons break mailto: auto-linking, even when there are angle brackets surrounding the links. There may be other characters that break it; I did not conduct an exhaustive test. Here are four examples that I constructed, based off of the link that first drew my attention to the problem.
<mailto:dude@example.org?subject=Re:Whoinspiredyou?> <mailto:dude@example.org?subject=Re:Who[in]spiredyou?> <mailto:dude@example.org?subject=Re: Who [in]spired you?> <mailto:dude@example.org?subject=What's the 411?>
The first two are fully auto-linked; the second two break at various points. See attached screenshot for details.

This also bugs me. Rarely see a linked mailto in any of my messages in MM. And sometimes the generated links would include special chars which aren't really part of the email-address.
I.e., a sender Address quoted by MM like:
From: Stefan Seiz [mailto:stefan.seiz@example.com]
would contain the closing bracket (]) in the Mailto-Link which results in a new email with a bogus address pre filled.
