whoops! did not mean to submit that. What I meant:

    Need "entire message" search feature

Mail's "Entire Message" search scope is very useful. I often want to match (body text or from or to or subject or cc or bcc) when I search.

Unless I missed it, this is not possible yet in MM?

No, there is no shorthand for searching the values described. The minimum would be: Unquoted Body Text, Any Address, and Subject.

I can understand the need to search body text and subject easily. I'm not sure I understand the need to combine it with address fields (at least not often).

I have a plan for making it easier to “start” searches using an interface similar to the Mailbox Chooser. This could be a solution for you.

In the meantime: I could easily add a shorthand for searching the headers you describe, but I'm not sure what it should be named. “Entire Message” would not be strictly correct – at least I would then expect it to search all headers (which is not easily implemented in MailMate). It is more like “Common headers and body text”, but that would be a bit verbose. Any suggestions?

This need is very common for me and my coworkers.

Let's suppose we have a valued client, named Kazuko. We often want to see every message that:

    • is from Kazuko
    • is to Kazuko (from us, or from another party with us perhaps Cc'd)
    • refers to Kazuko in the Subject (e.g. "Re: airport quarantine info for Kazuko's dog")
    • is Bcc'd to Kazuko (perhaps us responding to a third party on her behalf, handling some issue for her)
    • discusses Kazuko in some form in the message body

This is a repeating pattern for us--wouldn't that be so for a lot of businesses?

I agree that "Entire Message" is inaccurate, but "Body & Common Headers" seems OK to me. Or perhaps "Body | Subject | Correspondents"? Hmm, I don't know exactly what best to call it; that's why you make the big bucks! ;-)

Ok, I'll add it when I have decided the naming. Maybe then the big bucks will follow...
