NNTP support?

Reported by Mike | February 22nd, 2011 @ 09:48 AM

In the past, I used a mail client with NNTP support (Messenger on RISC OS) over many years. I'm thinking that an email client is the right place for NNTP. Messenger was able to "simulate" mailing lists as usenet groups (there was no indication that there was a difference). All filters (scoring, kill file, ...) where usable für mailing lists as for usenet. Their behavior was the same.

Is there a chance to get NNTP support in the (near?) furture?

    • State changed from “new” to “bluesky”
    • Assigned user set to “benny”

Very early betas of what would become MailMate actually supported NNTP. But right now the focus is on making MailMate a better email client. When/If NNTP is supported some day then any feature I have added aimed at mailing lists will naturally also be available for newsgroups (like the current Mute feature).

I am “closing” this ticket as bluesky, not because I don't want to support newsgroups, but because I cannot claim that it will be in the near future.

Comments on this ticket are still welcome.

Ok, correct mail behavior first. But (please) keep in mind: I want this NNTP feature (but I can wait). :-))
