Problem importing from Thunderbird on case-sensitive system
Reported by Bill Cole | February 18th, 2011 @ 10:52 PM
I am trying to test MailMate as a replacement for Thunderbird with a very complex mail world. On one of my Macs, MailMate allowed me to import my TBird accounts without any difficulty, but on another system with a very similar TBird configuration, MailMate showed none of my TBird accounts in the Import Accounts dialog.
My own investigation revealed that the cause of this is that MailMate looks for TBird accounts by reading "~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles.ini" but Thunderbird does not capitalize the name of that file, which is actually "~/Library/Thunderbird/profiles.ini". As a result, the MailMate import of TBird accounts works only for users whose home directories reside on filesystems that use a case-merging filesystem (such as the default configuration of HFS+.)

Thanks for tracking down the problem. I'll change the code to look for profiles.ini. (I am bit worried though that I might have written Profiles.ini, because I had seen it in use... I'll check both paths.)
