Save As… mbox “archive” file (á la Apple Mail)

Reported by David O'Donnell | January 3rd, 2014 @ 03:23 PM

I thought I’d seen this listed as an upcoming feature, but couldn’t find it using several related searches here.

The only thing I use Apple Mail for any more is its ability to File > Save As… into an mbox file that I can feed to SpamAssassin. Having such a function (whether limited to Junk or not) would be the “icing on the cake” for this application.

I haven't yet implemented it. The main reason is that there are several mbox-“standards” and I'm afraid it's going to be one of those quick features which will have endless issues :-)

I haven't checked, but I assume SpamAssassin can also import individual messages. You can create such messages simply by drag'n'dropping them to the Finder.

Also, you can use “Message ▸ Junk State ▸ Junk” to make MailMate tell SpamAssassin about these messages.
