[Feature Suggestion] Cloud based attachments

Reported by Alexander Kucera | November 30th, 2013 @ 01:21 PM

Hi Benny,

I just stumbled over this plugin for Mail.app that automatically uploads attachments to a cloud provider or FTP location, removes the actual attachment and replaces it with a link to the cloud location. I find the idea pretty brilliant.

However, it is Mail.app only. Sounds like a killer MailMate feature if you ask me.

If implemented in MailMate then I would do it by offering an action for external scripts to tell MailMate to strip and replace attachments with arbitrary content. In this case the content would be a link to the new location for the content. This would allow, for example, the creation of a Dropbox bundle with a command to perform the upload and creation of a link. It would also allow the user to setup a rule to do this automatically using rules (for example, based on attachment size). No time frame, but I'll put the ticket in the accepted state, because I like the idea.

I would absolutely love to have a MailMate version of CargoLifter.

That would be great. Maybe the developer of CargoLifter is interested in helping with an extension.
