How to specify multi-level Gmail-label to MailMate-tag mapping?
Reported by Allan | November 26th, 2013 @ 03:48 PM
Hi,
New user here... am enjoying exploring the app - great work!
I'm trying out the new gmail-label to MailMate-tag mapping feature. What it the recommended way to specify multi-level label-tag mappings? I tried the following and ran into trouble:
I have a gmail label: Projects/Company (note: this displays as label:projects-company in gmail's search box).
I created the following mapping in MailMate:
Display Name: Projects/Company
IMAP Keyword: Projects/Company
Gmail Label: Projects/Company
After applying this and trying to restart, MailMate would crash. Trying to restart via the Terminal gave me either "Bus error: 10" or "Segmentation fault: 11". In order to get the MailMate to start I had to manually edit the Tags.plist file and remove the reference to the above tag mapping. After restarting, MailMate promptly reported a corrupt database which I am now rebuilding. Should I specified the mapping differently, possibly "Projects-Company" or "Projects\Company"?
Using Version 1.7.1 (3864)
Thanks in advance,
Allan

I can see that a
/
in label name might be a problem (although I don't know why it would crash, but I'll look into that). MailMate compares mailbox names with Gmail labels when trying to determine which mailboxes to ignore and that might be a problem when/
is involved.I don't think you can work around it right now without renaming the labels (single level). You probably don't want to do that. I haven't actually tried, but I'm going to assume that I can reproduce this bug and I've marked the ticket accordingly. I'll update the ticket if I have any news on the subject.

I just tried reproducing this problem and I was unable to do so. I seem to be able to use multi-level Gmail labels without problems. It works both if I create it in the web interface and if do it in MailMate (the end result is not quite the same on the web-side, but from IMAP it appears to be the same thing).
I haven't done any extensive testing, but I'm also not sure what to try. Do you have anything to add? Can you reproduce the issue?
