prevent MailMate from marking imap messages as read

We share a central customer service gmail account in my office, and I'd like to make it so that when I look at messages on that account they are not marked as read. Is there a way to accomplish this? Thanks very much, I love MailMate so far.

    Yes, disable the “Mark Messages...” option in the Viewer preferences pane.

    Sorry, no. I have a plan to make many of the global preferences available on a mailbox level. I'll note that this setting should be a candidate for that as well.
