Make copied text available on clipboard as public.html
Reported by Stephen Chong | April 8th, 2025 @ 02:15 AM
When I copy text from an email displayed in MailMate, it is available on the clipboard only as public.utf8-plain-text. Is it please possible to make the copied text available as public.html?
This would be useful for a number of reasons. For me, I could then convert that HTML to markdown to use when composing emails in MailMate. (This is not quoting the original html, instead I just want to be able to select some part of another email in Mailmate, copy it, and use it when I compose another email.) I generally need to do this at least once every day or two. Currently it means I copy the plain text, go back and copy the link, and then Cmd-K the link into the MailMate composer. Occasionally I open a different mail client simply in order to copy part of an email as HTML.

The problem is that it can also be a bit of a nuisance if HTML is always on the pasteboard since some applications will then prefer it even if the plain text makes more sense. I don't know if it's the best solution, but the way it works now is that you need to use ⌥⌘C to “Copy as HTML” (the menu item also changes title). Try and see if that works for you (I rarely use it myself).

Thanks, that makes sense, I didn't know about ⌥⌘C to “Copy as HTML”.
