Send a reply and file the reply and original message to a chosen mailbox

IS there a method to reply to an email and then upon sending the email, choose a mailbox/folder to have both the reply and the original message filed to? Currently using the hidden preference to save sent files to the originating folder but the flow feels backward - file original message then go to new mailbox and select message and then send reply and then head back to the inbox for the next message. Exhausted describing it.
Can sort of do tagging prior to sending but due to a corporate stingy email storage quota, I would like to move things out of an inbox as dispositioned.
