"showThread" action doesn't keep selected email in focus on large threads or with small vertical height of pane

When starting out in the inbox with a recent response of a thread selected, and activating the "showThread" command it jumps into a custom search view which may not have the selected email in visible if it's too small for the now expanded thread (it starts out showing the root of the thread).
This tends to be confusing as one might think that the current email isn't selected anymore, and otherwise isn't present. When glancing at the Thread Arcs one sees that the selection didn't change though, which helps if it is enabled.
Pressing keys to move up and down an email re-centers the selection.
I would expect it to assure that the currently selected email is still in focus so one keeps the reference point in sight when switching between views.
