not synching with iMap server
Reported by Arch Getty | January 7th, 2013 @ 04:21 AM
My MailMate mailboxes are not synching properly with my iMap
server at work.
1. If I move a message to an offline folder, or to Archive, it is
not reflected on the server when I look with WebMail.
2. When I empty my Deleted mailboxes, it is not reflected on the
server, where they keep building up.
3. Archive folders never synch at all.
Am I doing something wrong?

First check that all mailboxes are online: Expand all mailboxes under SOURCES in the mailbox outline. Look for any mailboxes greyed out with an offline state. If any exist then take them online. Note that MailMate should not take mailboxes permanently offline without asking the user (happens with certain server errors). If you think this happened without your accept then please let me know if you find a way to reproduce it.
With respect to moving to an offline folder then the behavior is as expected. MailMate is very careful when moving a message. A message is not deleted in its source mailbox until the message is known to exist in its destination mailbox. This never happens when the destination is an offline mailbox. In other words, this cannot be used as a hack to obtain local mailboxes (which MailMate does not support).
It would be nice if MailMate was better at indicating the online state of messages, e.g., some way to see that a message has not yet been moved on the server. I'm still considering how to best do that.
