Problem sending message after moving from one network to another

Reported by Chris Miller | June 23rd, 2022 @ 02:28 PM

I have been having problems sending messages when moving from one network (e.g. the one at the university I work at) to another (my home network). The message I see says "Failed to send message" and "Could not resolve hostname "smtp.gmail.com" (domain: 12, error: 8)." I am able to solve after quitting and restarting MailMate. I'm running Version 1.14 (5895).

    • State changed from “new” to “cantreproduce”

Hmm, I don't get reports about this in general and I'm not sure what could trigger this. As far as I can see, it does not appear to be something MailMate has cached. It happens when MailMate tries to make a new connection to the server.

In any case, the plan is to switch to a newer API for making server connections. Unfortunately, it requires 10.14+ (and MailMate is still 10.12+). When I do make that switch then it'll hopefully also be a general improvement of connection issues like this one.

I'll mark it cantreproduce, but what I really mean is “will possibly be fixed implicitly later on”.

OK, thanks for the explanation. Looking forward to the issue going away. . .
