Mark as Replied / Answered Flag

Sometimes when replying to a message on my phone, the reply goes through but the \Answered flag doesn't get set on the original message. I don't see a way to do this in MailMate, aside from creating a Custom Key Binding. Before using MailMate, I was able to do this in Thunderbird with the simple ToggleReplied add-on:

Is it feasible to add similar functionality into MailMate, or is there another way I can customize the GUI to do this myself?

You can do it by creating a tag in the Tags preferences pane. You can, e.g., name it “Answered” and then make sure to map it to the IMAP keyword
\Answered.The side-effect is that you'll see this everywhere as a tag, but I guess that would be fine in your case since you are obviously using it.
