Error APPENDING Sent message to designated Sent Mail folder
Reported by Jim Wilde | November 20th, 2012 @ 03:18 AM
Some messages created by MailMate result in an error writing to the Sent mailbox using IMAP APPEND (they send fine via SMTP)
Server response: “I87 NO invalid RFC822 syntax (no header or body found or excessive long lines)”. Command attempted: “I87 APPEND "Sent" (\Seen) "24-Oct-2012 15:52:37 +0800" {8828}”.

If possible could you send me the entire email by private email?
I would also like to know the IMAP server address. I'd like to connect to it to see brand and version. This is likely to be a problem interacting with a specific server.
(I'll remove any addresses shown in your ticket since eventually a spam harvester is going to scan this ticket.)

Thanks. The IMAP server is a Critical Path Messaging Server. imap://mail.cp.net
I have several examples - many involve mails written by the same person.
One problem is that the possible actions are "Retry" and "Take Mailbox Offline""Retry" will polo back up in 30 seconds with the same error. "Take Mailbox Offline" means none of my subsequent sent messages will be saved on the server - causing much confusion later when I use my other PC.

- State changed from new to fixcommitted
This problem was triggered by MailMate generating header lines longer than 998 characters. This has been fixed such that headers are most often not longer than 78 characters and never longer than 998 characters. Headers are wrapped nicely such that, e.g., the name of a recipient is never split on two lines. The headers most often affected by this fix are recipient headers (

andcc
) and theReferences
header, but the fix is applied to all headers.
