Reply is now bottom-posting

In previous Mailmate versions, "reply" would consistently top-post my reply. I installed the beta (5852) recently when I switched to an M1 macbook on Monterey, and now my replies are coming in below the quoted mails. I can't identify any option in the app's GUI settings nor anything in the https://manual.mailmate-app.com/hidden_preferences list that would configure this to return to the top-reply mode.
So, this is either a) a bug report or b) a documentation issue :)
How do I get my top-reply back?

Update to the latest test release first: Hold down the option key when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.
The Signatures preferences pane has a “Never” option and a default signature location. If this doesn't work then this is certainly a bug.
