Text entered into search field does not appear to filter messages

Reported by Rich Siegel | December 16th, 2021 @ 05:52 PM

Without claiming that "searching doesn't work" :-): I've noticed the following anomalous behavior when using r5852:

  • given a large corpus of messages, at least one of which contains the desired search string (e.g. a domain name, or a shipment tracking number), paste or enter the desired search string into the search box in the mail viewer. Press Return or Enter.

Expected:
=> message list changes to include messages which contain the entered search string

Actual:
=> Text in the search box highlights, but there otherwise does not seem to be any visible effect

Regression:
I don't believe that this occurred in the build I was using previously, but I am not 100% certain.

If it would be useful I can follow the database rebuild procedure described at <https://manual.mailmate-app.com/rebuild but I won't do that in advance of you letting me know that it won't destroy any evidence that you may need.

This issue was debugged by email. The problem was a user-installed Ruby gem which did not support the M1 processor. The solution was to get rid of the gem, but MailMate could/should have handled it more gracefully.
