Failed SpamSieve filtering and hangs on macOS 12.0.1/arm64e

Reported by Rich Siegel | November 3rd, 2021 @ 01:34 AM

Using the 1.14 "test build" for Big Sur compatibility when running on macOS 12.0.1, I first noticed that mail was not being processed correctly with SpamSieve, resulting in spam not being moved to the Junk mailbox as when using 1.13 on macOS 10.15.7/Intel.

I'm currently using SpamSieve 2.9.46.

In addition, when attempting to use the "Move to Junk" context menu item, rather than the item being marked as spam, MailMate would frequently hang. Most recently I force-quit it and have saved the hang report.

Regression test: I downloaded 1.13 and ran it under Rosetta, and did not experience these symptoms - both spam filtering and manual "move to junk" worked as expected.

Your ticket system reports "Upload Quota Reached." so I cannot attach the hang report, but I'll be happy to provide it inline if that would be useful.

Please let me know if there's any additional information or diagnostics that I can provide.

    Hi,
i have a similar problem with spamsieve. The plugin is not loaded now with macOS 12.01

@ start comes up a message to check the plugin. But the "Manage Plugins" button is not available in "gerneral" tab as before.

    regafds, gerald

@Rich: Sounds like the AppleScript-based communication somehow fails. You can use “Help > Send Feedback” to send me a hang report. I've currently given up on freeing quota on Lighthouse since it very quickly fills up again. Recently, everything on lighthouse was marked as spam, so I'm also not a big fan at the moment. But it's a free service which means I'm not really getting less than I'm paying for :-)

@Gerald: “Manage Plugins”? That's never been part of MailMate I believe.

@Both: Also try the latest test release to make sure I didn't implicitly fix any issues: Hold down the option key when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

@benny thanks - updated to 5844 and incoming spam filtering appears to be working as expected. I'll report back with a sysdiagnose if I find otherwise.

Meanwhile I've run into another strange behavior related to spam filtering; I will file a separate ticket for that.
