Quicklook Preview with <Space> Key
Reported by René Pirringer | May 6th, 2021 @ 09:25 AM
I often use the QuickLook to view Attachments in mails. In the past (I don't know the version number) it was possible to view the attachment by pressing the key. With latest version 5798, the quicklook preview can only be triggered when pressing the eye icon or using the context menu, but not the key shortcut. I would be nice to get this feature back.

I believe the shortcut works, but there can be some issues related to where the current focus is in the interface.
It sounds like your issue is worse. Could you try the latest test release (hold down the option key when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane). If the issue persists then see if it also happens if focus is in the message list.

I missed you wrote “space key”. This has always been used for moving page down or next message in MailMate. Where did this work for you in MailMate in earlier releases?
(The shortcut is ⌘Y in MailMate.)

Yes the key has worked for me in the previous releases. (Most of the times I have used it in the composer window, to check if I have attached the correct documents) I was not aware that the shortcut for this is ⌘Y.
With ⌘Y the attachments are shown as expected.
The thing is that macOS is using the for quicklook everywhere. So the question would be if it would make sense to change the shortcut to ? -

Unfortunately, the space key is traditionally used to do page down and next message in email clients. If I remember correctly, I've simply copied the behavior of Apple Mail to be at least a little bit consistent.
(The composer is mostly text fields and the space key would also be swallowed by those most of the time.)
