Signature Sheet in Preference Dialog will not close

Using MailMate 1.13.1 (Unregistered trial)
When adding a signature, the drop down sheet will not close. This blocks the preference dialog completely.
- Clicking Cancel highlights the button, does nothing.
- Clicking OK adds a duplicate signature, but sheet remains open.
- Hitting the esc key, briefly flashes the Cancel button, sheet remains open.
- Similarly, Enter and Return just adds a duplicate signature, but sheet remains open.
- Trying to exit the application with Cmd-Q or menu selection does nothing, modal preference window remains open.
- Also tried to close all other open MailMate windows.
System:
OS X El Capitain 10.11.6
Mac Pro (Early 2008)

This is a known issue on older macOS releases. I believe it works in the latest test release (if I haven't broken something else): Hold down the option key while clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.
