Crash on clicking browser with attachment preview open

Reported by Rob Schumann | April 4th, 2012 @ 04:55 AM

Hi,

Clicking on the mail browser window while an attachment preview window was open (contained a MS Word document)... caused a beachball followed by crash.

Cheers

Rob

Is it reproducible for you? (I cannot trigger the problem.)

I think it is unrelated to the type of attachment. It is probably some
particular order of actions/events related to the Quick Look window.

    Hi Benny,

I'd have to say it's intermittent, but common... not always a crash, but often prolonged beachball before either crashing or 'resuming' normal operation.

One thing I did do yesterday was, realising my error in clicking on the browser with the quicklook open, was to near immediately click the close button on the quicklook window. In fact in testing it just now it is this rapid sequence that causes the hang and crash.

Taking things more sedately everything happened normally and without either beachball or crash...

Hope that helps some and that you can duplicate it at your end.

    Cheers

    Rob

    • State changed from “new” to “cantreproduce”

Still can't reproduce it. The crash report indicates that it may be related to a particular message, or type of message. Do you see any pattern with regard to messages for which this happens and messages for which this never happens?

Nothing I've noticed, except that there must be an attachment.

I'll try with a few with different attachment types and get back to you... Might be a day or so though as rather pushed for time at the moment.

    Cheers
