switching apps disabling typing

Reported by Cheshire | January 21st, 2020 @ 06:19 PM

Hi there -- I've run into this a few times lately: while I'm writing a draft, if I go to another app and then come back, suddenly I can't type in the draft anymore. But keystrokes are still working -- it's more like the keystrokes are controlling the main viewer window instead, even though the draft is the window in focus. I haven't figured out what exactly triggers this behavior once I'm in another app and return to MailMate. But similarly, I just switched back from writing this post and see that typing is working normally again. But something seems to be going on. Sorry I don't have a more specific workflow that I can point to to trigger the issue.

Thanks,
Cheshire

Thanks for the report. I believe I've experienced something like this, but my usage pattern apparently triggers it very rarely. Let me know if you find a pattern or a likely hint and I'll try to see if I can reproduce it. It might somehow be related to how applications are switched.

You can also try the latest test release to confirm that the issue still exists: Hold down option when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.
