New Message crashes MailMate
Reported by Philip | December 22nd, 2019 @ 08:02 PM
New Message menu item and toolbar button are greyed out. If I use the keyboard shortcut MailMate hard crashes.
Context info:
- I have done a reformat + clean install to Catalina.
- I copied across my Library/Application Support/MailMate folder so that all my mailboxes and messages would be migrated.
- Accounts didn't show up initially but after trying to add one they all show and everything besides creating a new message seems to be working.
- I receive email fine, can reply to email and send, etc.
Things I have tried:
- I have loaded custom key bindings but disabling and restarting doesn't fix the issue.
- I deleted the Library/Preferences/MailMate plist and restarted but didn't work.
Not sure what else to do.

Sounds like you didn't get the
.plist
files copied over (in~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/
) or you copied them while MailMate was running...The greyed out menu items seem to indicate that MailMate cannot find any default email addresses. Use “File > Edit IMAP Account” to check that the “Email Address(es)” field has a value.
Let me know if that does not help.
(The crash with the custom key binding is likely a bug which I've now fixed for the next update.)

Ah! That also explains the weird empty From: when I reply to a message. I have added emails to all the IMAP accounts and its all working normally again.
Thanks for the fast reply, I was worried I'd have to use a pedestrian email client again while waiting... hahaha!
