address in reply to all changing

when I reply to multi-party messages the from field is pre-filled with an email address from one of the other recipients or senders and the reply to all button is missing. if I notice this, I can correct it, if I do not, I don't know what happens, not sure if my emails are sending or how they look to recipient?

btw, this only happens when I first search for a message and then reply to it
