IMAP server connection problem

Hello,
I am finding the following error when connecting to an imap server:
“Server response: “C4 BAD Parse command error”.”. Mailbox: “ATLAS/EdBoard”.
“C4 BAD Parse command error”.”. Mailbox: “Archives/2018”.
etc, etc, ...
This error is displayed for every folder repeatedly.
Email from the INBOX are being fetched but emails from Folder are stuck.
I am not having this problem with other email program readers, like Postbox, for instance.
Can you advise on how to proceed to debug and fix this?
My system: MailMate/5655 MacBookPro11,3/x86_64/8/10.15.1
