Message Focus Lost When Changing Inboxes

I don't get this behavior. When I go from Account1's INBOX to Account2's INBOX and then back to Account1's INBOX, the message I had been working on has gone from highlighted to light gray and I have to move my mouse and click on it again to work with that message? Why doesn't it just stay selected as the active message I had been working on and I can do a reply or delete immediately without the extra mousing? I can provide video of what I am talking about if it helps.
