Markdown preview misleading

Hi Benny,
I have come to realise that some email recipients are seeing
unintended styling, because MM's preview is not showing me that I
have inadvertently added MD code for a heading. For instance if I
type
===== or ----- directly after a line, the line above can be turned
into a first or second level header, but I am not seeing this in
your preview.
Of course now I know, it is easy to defeat this by adding a blank line, but it raises two questions
1) Why does the MM preview not show all standard MD features?
2) What would it take for MailMate to support Marked 2 as a
standalone preview app?
