MailMate displays two emails in view for messages with identical "Message-ID:"
Reported by Jonathan Stanton | September 6th, 2019 @ 12:14 AM
I just started using MailMate (previously used Mac Mail as well as others) and one thing that appears to be behaving differently and in way which seems incorrect, is that MailMate displays message which have the same Message-ID header but different Envelope-To headers as 2 messages, eventhough on the server they are the same message.
This happens for me frequently where a message has several distribution lists on the CC line and I get it via multiple DL since I am on several. The IMAP server is correctly handling the delivery as a single message with multiple groups, and Mac Mail and other clients I have tried display the messages as a single one, but MailMate shows two duplicate emails in the viewer.
For example I have a message with the same message ID (and all the other headers i could check by looking at them)
Message 1 in view (shown using "Show Raw Message" option in View
menu.
Envelope-to: events@ltnglobal.com
Message-ID: <<a
href="mailto:CAOPMP9L1_dEEotPKneBmLSqOYcm8pYX0NVvZUO9xv2V0jX4Ymw@mail.gmail.com">CAOPMP9L1_dEEotPKneBmLSqOYcm8pYX0NVvZUO9xv2V0jX4Ymw@mail.gmail.com>
Message 2 in view (shown using "Show Raw Message" option in View menu.
Envelope-to: engineering@ltnglobal.com
Message-ID: <<a
href="mailto:CAOPMP9L1_dEEotPKneBmLSqOYcm8pYX0NVvZUO9xv2V0jX4Ymw@mail.gmail.com">CAOPMP9L1_dEEotPKneBmLSqOYcm8pYX0NVvZUO9xv2V0jX4Ymw@mail.gmail.com>
Is there an option to not have these shown as separate messages when they are identical except for envelope? Or is this a bug in the way messages are determined to be different senders?
Thanks

I found another case which shows two emails in the list pane but here they appear identical when looked at as raw -- so not even different envelopes. Here is a screenshot and sample headers
Ok -- I can't find a way to upload a screenshot here, so hopefully you can imagine the list pane showing the same email in two lines (from, subject, date) are identical.
Here are headers from both versions. Only change was replacing actual domain with XXXX.
