leave search view when selecting an email in the global menubar

Say I'm getting an email, and I get a notification in the main menubar (top right of the screen).
If I click on the email subject to look at it, the MailMate window gets to the top. But if I had previously conducted a search, MailMate does not show me the email. Instead, it keeps showing me the results of the search (i.e. nothing happens).
I would expect MailMate to dismiss the results of the previous search and show me the email I just selected.

Actually, I think MailMate opens a separate window with the message in the background. But I agree that it should clear the search.
