Read-Only public folder error

Reported by J.A. Duke | November 15th, 2018 @ 02:55 PM

I’ve got a number of public folders that are read-only for all accounts, just to keep them from being changed accidentally.

MM presents an error dialog that the mailbox is in a “read-only” state (see attached).

In this case, this is not an error, simply the fact that the average user has just read permissions for this mailbox. I believe that this is permitted in the IMAP spec.

MM is 1.12.1

I think that there should be a more graceful way of handling these folders. They aren’t ever going to be writeable, but people need access to the contents for searching. I’m not sure what the best way to handle these should be. I’m open to discussion.

If you need any more information like logs of server-client communication, etc. please let me know.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Jon

I'm guessing MailMate is trying to synchronize some kind of change with the server and this is what fails. It might be as simple as trying to synchronize the read state although I thought I had already worked around that.

Could you generate logs for me?

    • Open the Activity Viewer (⌥⌘0).
    • Trigger the issue.
    • Use “Help > Sender Server Logs”.
