JPEG images not properly rendered

I think this happens more often with iOS cameras and then edited (could be as simple as rotated) files, but when such an image is attached to an email, Mailmate renders the image without the edit. MacOS Preview, quick view and other functions show the correct image.

I know there can be issues with rotation which is a bit tricky to handle. What are the other types of edits which are not displayed? (MailMate doesn't really handle this itself -- it uses an HTML view to display images.)
