Extra space between message and From/Subject/Date/To pane

When I look at messages in my Sent mailbox, some of them have an extra space (it looks like one blank line) between the first line of the message and the From/Subject/Date/To pane above. When I click "Show Raw Message", I can confirm that all my messages are not starting with an extra blank line. Just the single blank line that separates the last header, Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; markup=markdown, and the start of my message.

I see this behavior in the message pane in the "Widescreen" Layout I use MailMate and also when I click "Open Message" to see the message individually in a new window.
