dragging attached documents to save

Reported by John Grubb | October 9th, 2017 @ 07:22 AM

Since High Sierra, when I drag an attachment from an email to save it, it saves as a '.inetloc' file instead of the original file. If I use the menu option to save attachments that works fine. John

This is a known bug which I haven't found a way to fix yet. Note that the small icon can still be dragged.

I've really tried to fix this, but so far I have not been able to. Instead, I've now disabled (on High Sierra) that the text can be dragged at all which hopefully makes users try dragging the icon instead.

Technical stuff: The proper “fix” is going to be when I replace the WebView with WKWebView (a different API provided by Apple which might work) -- or when I create a new attachments interface which is not inside the WebView itself.
