Address Field Not Expanding
Reported by vic239 | August 26th, 2017 @ 03:27 PM
Hi. I'm a new convert to MailMate and am getting to really love it. However, I have an issue when filling the address field from a group in my address book. The address field only expands to show four rows of addresses with the fifth just visible below. I can scroll with the arrow keys, but I feel it would be better if either all addresses were visible or a scroll bar added.
This is not a big issue, it just took me a while to realise that I could use the arrow keys!
Thanks and great work by the way.

Thanks for converting to MailMate!
This is an old issue and it has been quite a while since I last looked into it. If I remember correctly then it turned out to be more tricky to fix than I initially thought.
I've now changed the default to 6 lines, but I've also added that you can increase this with a hidden preference. You do it like this in a Terminal window:
defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmComposerMaximumNumberOfRecipientLines -bool YES
This'll have to do for now. I'll mark the ticket as
bluesky
since it's unlikely I'll add a visual scroller soon.(Thinking out loud: In general, it should of course be avoided to send emails to a large number of recipients unless you are using the Bcc header. In fact, you might want to request that MailMate would automatically suggest and perform sending X individual emails instead of sending a single bulk email allowing everyone to see the email addresses of everyone else.)

Many thanks Benny, should prove helpful. I'll look out for that in a forthcoming update.
You are of course correct re using Bcc and I always do (my address book group is prefixed Bcc to reinforce that action). Is the bulk email alternative a current feature? I haven't been able to find a reference to it.
Thanks again.

No, the bulk email feature is just an idea which would help people to do the right thing. I have not implemented it.
