Quoting selected text in HTML formatted messages removes line breaks (2491)

Reported by David Vereschagin | September 27th, 2011 @ 02:36 PM

When quoting an entire HTML message in a reply (i.e., not selecting any text, just choosing to reply) MailMate properly preserves the line breaks in the original message.

But when selecting a block of text from an HTML-formatted message to only quote in a reply, MailMate removes the line breaks, and the text runs all together.

I've only noticed this behaviour after the latest update, although it may have existed before now.

It is a known issue and not a new problem. When replying to an entire
message, MailMate bases the reply on the plain text alternative included
in the message. This is most often much more reliable than any
non-standard HTML body part. This is not (easily) possible when basing a
reply on selected text and the current heuristic for converting HTML to
    plain text is not impressive.
