can't take accounts offline

Reported by Cheshire | May 11th, 2017 @ 07:14 PM

Hi there -- for some reason "take account offline" is grayed-out for each of my accounts, but I really need to take one offline. I'm on the latest version on Mac 10.12.3.

Thanks!

    • State changed from “new” to “resolved”

If you select an account under SOURCES in the mailbox list then it should not be greyed out. (It is also possible to take individual mailboxes of an account offline.)

Let me know if this does not answer your question.

Hmm -- that did work, but for some reason, even after taking the account offline, sending mail is still going out from that account.

My issue is that I've changed MX records so that G Suite is now controlling my mail, and now I have both the old server account and the newer G Suite-controlled account in MailMate, but for some reason MailMate won't let me send from the G Suite account. I thought taking the old server account offline would force MailMate to start using the G Suite.

I know that sending from G Suite works, because I can do it from my phone mail client (Spark) easily enough.

I don't want to delete the old server account, because I haven't migrated emails from the old server to G Suite yet, and I still need to refer to previous emails.

Any idea how to fix this?

    Thanks!

Yes, it doesn't affect sending. There's a hidden preference to change that, but I don't think you'll need that.

You should simply remove the email address in the “Email Address(es)” field of the old IMAP account. That should make it unavailable for sending messages. You can also delete the SMTP settings of the account, but I don't think that is necessary.

    Does that help?

That did the trick -- thank you for the quick help!
