Signatures always inserted at the top regardless of context

Mailmate Version 1.9.6 (5372)
Signature settings: Default Signature placement -> "top"
When starting a brand new message Mailmate correctly places the signature at the bottom. Toggling the signature off/on via the signatures button Mailmate then proceeds to change the signature position to the top. I believe the intent of the signature setting above is to allow signatures to be added at the top when replying/forwarding but when creating new messages it should remain at the bottom, the bottom is the standard for brand new emails :). Seems like the logic should be changed so that context (is it a new message or a reply/forward) is taken into consideration for the signature button in the composer window.
My expectation is that on a new message with text, toggling the signature on off always places the signature at the bottom regardless of the above setting. When replying to a new email signatures go at the top as set in the setting above. When toggling the signature button on a reply/forward signatures get turned off and added at the top.
