Feature request: Rule to show email’s HTML part, or something magical™?

Reported by Christopher Corbettis | April 26th, 2017 @ 10:53 AM

I have MailMate setup to prefer showing plain text.

The problem is I’m subscribed to a mailing list that always sends out a totally useless message in plain text, the content is in the HTML part (I would tell the mailing list operator, but I can imagine how clueless they’d be!).

It would be really nice if I could set up a rule to show the HTML part.

Or better yet, magical™ even, if MailMate compared the two parts, saw that there was a size discrepancy and showed the larger part (of course there would be a view preference for this).

Man, can I make a +1 to this feature?

Sorry about the late reply. Since the mailing list message linked to in the original ticket request I have implemented the ability to change other headers via bundle commands -- currently only used by the “Command ▸ MailMate ▸ Change Subject” command. This is a step in the right direction. I tried altering this a bit to also be able to change the virtual header responsible for selecting the default body part displayed and this almost worked. It did not work if the root content type is not multipart/alternative.

So, this is almost possible using a bundle command, but MailMate is not quite there yet. I'll note to try to find a solution to the latter part as well.

I'm sorry to jump in "late" on this thread, but I would love to know if any of you has a strategy to dead with what Cristopher indicated in the starting message. I would love to have a rule for some newsletters to be read as HTML, keeping my "plain text by default" policy. Thanks!
