Mailmate keeps crashing
Reported by Mathieu | April 6th, 2017 @ 06:46 PM
Hi -
The previous version crashed when I started the app 100% of the
time.
I just downloaded the later non-beta version -- same thing except
that the app does open up and show emails for about 1 minute and
then crashes.
There is no error message.
I am running it on an iMac with 10.12.4.
Any idea what the problem may be?
Thanks
Mathieu

Sorry to hear that. Do you allow MailMate to send crash reports? (See the General prefs pane if you have time for that.)
I located some crash reports which indicate that the problem might be some kind of database corruption. Could you open a Terminal window and launch MailMate like this:
/Applications/MailMate.app/Contents/MacOS/MailMate
That should show an error before the crash.
It's likely the only workaround is to force the accounts to re-synchronize, but first let me know what you get from the above.
Sorry about the inconvenience.

Hi Benny,
I cannot change the preferences because the app does not stay open long enough.
Here is the info that appeared when I used terminal to activate MM.
It also generated an error report this time.
Both files are attached.Thanks!

I'm afraid you need to re-synchronize MailMate completely. To avoid setting up your settings again I recommend doing it by removing the following folders:
~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Database.noindex ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Attachments ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Messages ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Messages.noindex
If you have enabled the custom location option for Spotlight (in the General preferences pane) then you might also have a
Messages
folder in a different location. You might want to keep a copy of the Messages folder until you are sure you are not missing any messages on the IMAP server. Also delete any files starting with a
.
(period). These are hidden files and you can see them by entering:~/Library/Application\ Support/MailMate/ ls -a
Finally, relaunch MailMate.
If you have any idea how this problem started then please let me know.
