inconsistence of the From: field
Reported by Thibaud | June 24th, 2011 @ 10:35 PM
When I click on New message, the From: field corresponds to the
To: field of the selected e-mail in the main window of
MailMate.
It should be ok if, when adding a contact in the To: field of my
new e-mail, the From: field change to the preferred From: field for
this contact. But it is not the case and the From: field remains
the same than the one of the selected message in MailMate main
window.
How I would like it behaves:
When New message to a@b.c:
-> use the preferred From: for this contact (defined when previously manually choosing a From: for a new message for a@b.c), or if not available:
--> use the From: corresponding to the more used From: in all the messages sent to a@b.c (including replies) during the three last months, or, if not available:
---> use the default From: address
When Reply to a@b.c:
-> in all cases, use the To: field of the message as From: field of the answer
The To:field of the e-mail selected in the main window of Mailmate is rarely relevant for a new message...
I only spoke about From: field but It could apply for the choice of the signature also :)

I (mostly) agree. The To-field is probably most often only relevant when being in a mailing list mailbox.

I sent you an e-mail with an example of strange From: address created that could be related to this ticket.
