Remove search criteria on the fly

#1658

Here's something that happens quite often in MailMate, and I'm wondering if there's a way around it:

  1. I search for a message containing some text, say "foo"
  2. I find that message, and I want to see that message's entire thread
  3. I show the entire thread, but now I only see messages in the thread that contain "foo".

At this point, I can't find a way of keeping the Thread ID search criterion, but removing the "foo" search criterion.

I guess I would like a way of clearing the search, but maintaining the currently selected message — essentially something like "Go to Source" but without opening a new viewer window. Is there any way to do this?

Thanks!

Just as an update, this applescript does the trick for my most common use case, using a temporary "mark" tag that is dedicated for this purpose:

tell application "MailMate" to perform ["setTag:", "mark", "goToMailbox:", "TAGS:mark", "selectFirstMessageRow:", "showThread:", "removeTag:", "mark"]
